Alasdair Corbett

Alasdair, the Café Manager at Populus Café, oversees the day-to-day running of the café while helping to develop it into a welcoming community space at the heart of Leith Community Croft. He works with our fantastic team of staff and volunteers to create a friendly, inclusive space where everyone feels welcome. He is also focused on improving systems, developing the menu, reducing waste, supporting volunteers to gain confidence and new skills, and helping the café generate more income to support Earth in Common's wider work.
His background is in social enterprise and community business. Before joining Earth in Common, he founded Edinburgh Community Bookshop, a volunteer-led social enterprise that raises money for local charities, and he also runs Easter Greens, Edinburgh's vegan grocery store. He is passionate about creating businesses that are financially sustainable while making a positive difference in their communities.
When he is not at the café, he is exploring Scotland with his rescue dog Charlie, enjoying the outdoors, or working on new ideas for community-focused projects.
