Urban Crofts - A New Concept Rooted in the Past

Located on the site of a former bowling green in St Margaret's Park, Corstorphine Community Croft is one of two new urban crofting sites in Edinburgh that are being developed by Earth in Common.

History of Corstorphine Community Croft

In 2023, Edinburgh Leisure returned several disused bowling green venues to the City of Edinburgh Council, including the one in St Margaret’s Park. In 2025, Earth in Common was appointed by Edinburgh Council and Friends of St Margaret's Park to develop an urban croft on the site.

In August 2025, Earth in Common appointed two new staff to lead the development of the new urban crofts. They endeavour continue to work closely with the local community and council to develop a vibrant green space for people, plants and the planet.

Get Involved with the Croft

We warmly invite you to join us at our upcoming croft events — a wonderful opportunity to meet our team, connect with others in the local community, and play a part in shaping the future of our croft. Whether you're a seasoned crofter, a curious neighbour, or simply someone who loves the outdoors, there's something for everyone. Come along to get involved in developing Corstorphine Community Croft, share stories, learn more about our work, and enjoy a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Additionally, if you have an hour or two to spare during the week, we need your help to get the site ready for the 2026 growing season. Find out more about volunteering opportunities here.

Croft Membership

If you like what we do and would like to support our work, you can make a one-time donation or become a member of Earth in Common. Both Individual and Group memberships are available.
