Rooted in Leith, Scotland.
We started as a movement of Leithers reclaiming common good land to make healthy food and nature accessible to ourselves and our children. For the first years of our existence, we were known as Leith Community Crops in Pots. Now we are Earth in Common, based at Leith Community Croft working more broadly to tackle a broken food system, climate change and social inequality locally, nationally and internationally.
Building community and food growing are at our core, however, to realise our above ambitions we have developed a number of initiatives, most notably our Urban Croft model. Our integrated vision of urban crofts can help generate community solidarity and wellbeing, strengthen the local economy, and contribute to community wealth building and skill-training. We aim to share this idea with communities across Scotland to help them reclaim derelict urban green spaces to establish urban crofts as together, we believe empowered urban communities could play a vital part in our move to food sovereignty.

We are getting our new building and systems ready at the moment and look forward to hosting events as soon as we can in 2023!

Our New Pavilion!
We're excited to be re-purposing the dilapidated former tennis pavilion at the corner of Leith Links into a permanent home for Earth in Common and as a space for training and events! The transformed building will be a dynamic place for community engagement and a special place promoting healthy, inclusive and environmentally sustainable food production and consumption in Leith.
Our new Pavilion, Hingabootery Café, Farm Shop (The Hearty Bùth!) & our weekly Market on the Croft will be re-opening as soon as this work is complete, Spring 2023! Until then, you can find out more about what you can expect by clicking on the links below.
Over the coming months we are working hard to bring you one-off Events and Croft Carbon College Workshops. Keep an eye out for both here.
During this tricky transition your support for our charity is more vital than ever.
Please consider making a kind donation to enable us to cover our core operational costs & increase our ability to strive to achieve our missions whilst we are unable to operate as normal during the renovation work.
Every little really does help and we are very grateful.
We can't wait to see you soon!
